UPCOMING FASHION SPREAD ft. designer SARAH JANE ESTES

This past Friday I was able to model for a FABULOUS photoshoot featuring swimwear by designer Sarah Jane Estes and casual lingerie by designing duo Sarah Jane Estes and Pilar Marite called 'Penny Royale'.

The fashion spread will be featured in the July issues of Sophisticated Living Magazine so be sure to pick it up! The bathing suits are unique and fabulously vintage inspired (so clearly I am hooked).
Also, check out the lovely and publicly acceptable underthings created by Penny Royale! I am in love with the lacey high-waisted look and fit! You can pick these awesome items up at Street Scene in Lexington KY (2575 Regency Road). I want them in every color!

The next Sophisticated Living issue comes out July 1st, so get ready!

A WEEKEND in NYC

I recently returned from a trip to the Big Apple were I went in search of art and inspiration, and found both in mass quantities!
Highlights: Had a GREAT time staying at the brand-spanking-new hotel called "YOTEL" on 570 Tenth Avenue. It was super sleek and modern in a spaceage 'Jetson's meets Austin Powers' sort of way. It even had a smooth and sexy baggage checker named "Yobot" that checked your luggage for you! Nifty! It's definitly worth staying there for the experience.

The Alexander McQueen Exhibit at the MET is an absolute must see. It ends August 7th, so if you have to opportunity to make it before then I really recommend it! There are over 100 pieces in the exhibit. It is breathtaking to see the works of art so up close, and to fully understand what a huge impact he made on the world of fashion. The attention to detail and craftsmanship is jaw droppng and almost surreal. I could have stood in those galleries for hours just soaking it all in. Go see it before it is gone! Go here to read more about it and to see photos:

The LION KING on Broadway = Awesome!!! Seriously, it was incredible and not just for kids... in fact, I feel like adults would enjoy and appreciate it so much more. The music, costumes, and energy of it was refreshing and uplifting!

"BOOKMARC" by Marc Jacobs. Yes, he has a little corner book store. And its dang cute. You can find the artsiest of coffeetable books and funky little things like jewelry and bags that only Marc Jacobs would come up with. There, I found my favorite tote of all totes - for only $35!! Check it out - 400 Bleecker Street NYC

I almost flipped when I walked through the fashion district and saw all the fabric shops! I was like a kid in a candy store!! That street makes anyone want to be a designer. So many colors and patterns... it made my head hurt. Next time I go, I am taking an extra suitcase to fill with beautiful things! Between the Alexander McQueen exhibit and all creative shops, I feel like it may be time to break out the 'ol sewing machine again! Hmmmm. Should be interesting!

Hope to get back soon - way too much to do for one lifetime! :)

FUTURE of FASHION 2011 = AMAZING!

WOW! The Kentucky Textile and Fashion Expo and the 3rd Annual Future of Fashion Show and Fundraiser was a huge success this year! It was the first year I have had the opportunity to be a part of this incredible event and I already know that next year will blow people away! The state of Kentucky should be so very proud to have such talented individuals representing it in the Lexington Fashion Collaborative! The entire day was equally exhausting and inspiring. During the Textile and Fashion Expo I walked for accessory designer Maui Crane. This years collection was intended to reflect the inner strength of women. He created an army of warriors as a result! It was a sight to behold and truly unforgettable.

During the 'Future of Fashion' show and fundraiser, I walked in shows for designers Brittany Murphy and Betsy Hamilton. Both have fun and creative takes on classic looks. It was wonderful to be a part of! Congrats ladies on two beautiful lines this year! And they were only TWO of the multitudes that took the runway by storm!

Backstage was relative organized chaos. The hair and makeup teams were going non-stop for hours transforming the models into runway divas. It was quite entertaining to watch throughout the day. I love the creative process!

The Lexington Fashion Collaborative did a remarkable job with this event. The future holds GREAT things them! Kudos to all who played a role in any part of the day.

To get a better idea of the day's events, pop some popcorn and check out the video! The first part is the Kentucky Textile and Fashion Expo which included young designers, accessories and local boutiques... and the second part is the 3rd Annual Future of Fashion Show. Enjoy :)

I LOVE MY FASHION FAMILY!!

FUN at BEATERSVILLE 2011

This past Sunday was the equivalent of CHRISTMAS for the rockabilly/pinup/hotrod industry!!
Beatersville 2011 was a huge, smoldering hot success at Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville KY. People came from all around to check out the awesome cars, bikes, bands... and of course, the lovely bombshell babes that were found EVERYWHERE! It was a BLAST! The music was great and the cars were incredible. Not much compares to a hot Kentucky afternoon, homemade peach icecream, hotrods, hard lemonade and retro cuties!

Until next year...
