Photoshoot with Laura Kirkpatrick in LexScene Magazine

This is kind of a blast from the past, so pardon the delay! Last September, I shot a fashion spread with Laura Kirkpatrick (KY's sweetheart from this past season of America's Next Top Model All-Stars) for a local Lexington magazine called LexScene. We highlighted several hotspots and boutiques such as SkyBar, Dudley's, Mod Boutique and Voce' during our all day playday in a GIANT Limo-Bus that took us all over town for the photoshoot. Alicia Calton was our photographer, and I modeled (as well as was in charge of hair and makeup... Whew!). At one point, I even got to put on a gorgeous bridal gown and thousands of dollars worth of diamonds to play bride! What girl doesn't LOVE to do that?!

We all had ENTIRELY too much fun. My favorite moment HAS to be when Laura taught me a trick that "the girls on ANTM used to do to entertain themselves on the limo buses"... She stood me up and we both hung from the rails on the ceiling swinging simultaneously against each other in circles! It was hilarious! There are pictures of this hysterical phenomenon, but I only wish there were video to do it justice! I was so dizzy. Laura, I think we need to get our own bus so we can practice for when we make it an Olympic sport! Haha

I am so happy I got to spend that fantastically fun yet hectic day with one of my dearest friends doing what we love to do - be silly girls! (I am also glad that the driver was able to tolerate us!) I really hope we get to do it again one day.

Here are a few shots from the magazine, and some behind the scene pics too!

Gettin BOLD with Alicia C

Here's a few fashion shots from a shoot I did earlier this summer by Alicia C. Photography down on the river. It was all high fashion with BOLD colors. I loved it! I brought along my antique cherry red suitcase set and an absolutely fabulous black and white dress by Helmut Lang for it's moment in the light. More to be posted soon!

A Hot July Evening in Berea with Alicia C. And Laura Kirkpatrick

A couple of weeks ago, photographer Alicia Calton asked model Laura Kirkpatrick from ANTM and myself if we would mind being a part of a live photoshoot that she was doing as part of a class she was teaching in Berea during the summer to highschool students. We are both Alicia fans so naturally we were up for it.

Well, the day ended up being miserably steamy and just plain nasty-hot. Make-up was melting and clothes were sticking everywhere. When Laura arrived I had ten minutes to put her through the fastest hair & makeup regimen I think I've ever pulled off for a shoot - I felt like I was on a reality show. (Luckily she is ridiculously flawless and made that job way too easy :-) We then shot the first set together and answered questions and talked with the students. A few even got to take a few shots of their own. It was a very talented group of kids and I am very excited to see what in store for their futures! The location was the Berea College Farm and it was full of sunflowers and a gigantic magical weeping willow (my FAVORITE trees ever!). I had so much fun seeing Laura for a last time before her big move to Los Angeles and I cannot wait to see the rest of the pictures as they get released!

Here's a sneak peak with some behind the scenes photos!

Alicia C's Louisville Shoots Round 2

Alicia C Photography's second round of photoshoots in Louisville starred Laurie Johnson, Elizabeth Dryden, Tiffany Leake, Nisha Abraham and Whittney Dawn Allen. It was a steamy hot week for outdoor photoshoots, but everyone was fantastic and pulled through like champs. I even shot a quick jewelry ad for Shallott Lilly one evening. Alicia's work was impeccable as always. My responsibilities rested in keeping everyone's makeup and hair looking fresh and beautiful. Fun memories were made that week while some of us went to great lengths to stay cool and sane! Be sure to take a look at our work and visit www.alicia-c-photography.com.

Alicia C's Louisville Shoots Round 1

Hello everyone! The first short round of Alicia C. Photography's shoots in Louisville KY has ended, and the second is on it's way next week... so I thought you may interested in seeing how everything went!! First up, we had the pleasure of working with the stunning and accomplished Brandy Fisher! She is a busy girl and was Miss Kentucky 2010 Runner up! After I created her hair and makeup look, we then headed for the park. She is SUCH a sweetheart and a real a trooper for hiking in heels like no one I have seen. She first set was in a beautiful blush-pink dress of her own and then in one of Soreyda Benedit's lovely gowns for a fantasy look that was breathtaking. The only downside to the day was realizing that it was in fact not too early for mosquitoes. Ulgh! Read more about her experience HERE or add her on FACEBOOK

Our next model was accomplished dancer Tiffany Leake from Lexington Ky. I was very excited to work with her because she is actually a very close relative of mine! The day that the shoot was scheduled for was doomed my mother nature so we had to reschedule for the following day which turned out to be lovely. Aside from the wind - which took ahold of the reflector I was holding and nearly turned me into a kite tail!! After I completed her hair and makeup look, we took a trip down to waterfront park to capture it in a way that hadn't been seen before. Tiffany was a natural at posing and had long legs and arms that were perfect for high fashion. But she had a secret - this was her very first photoshoot. Ever! And she absolutely ROCKED it. I think Miss Leake has quite a future ahead of her. Check her out on FACEBOOK!

...BUT before she went home, we both found the time to do a couple epic sets together. I think after watching two other talented women work their stuff, I was itchin to do something creative... and I had in incredible pair of shoes (of course) that were my inspiration for the idea! LOL. Here is a sneak peak... More to come soon!! Xoxo

Fairy Tale Time

So, it has been established that photographer Alicia C's work is positively dreamy... but now it is reaching all new levels of incredible. I love (no, seriously LOVE) fairy tales and enchanted things, so couple weeks ago she had a project that I was more than thrilled to be a part of.

Clothing Designer Soreyda Begley had made some incredibly whimsical dresses that were perfect for Alicia's vision, and we knew was going to be magical. Myself as well as models Tonie McManus & Ashley Gabhart took part in a beautiful little adventure getting back in touch with nature after this long, miserable winter. Alicia came to Louisville from Richmond and Mother Nature was as kind as she could be, giving us yet another day of impeccable weather for romping around the woods. Aside from being attacked by swarms of gnats that were ready to devour us for our hairspray, the day couldn't have been better! Here is a quick look at what is unfolding... (You can almost write a story in your head by looking at them!)

New Look!

Soooo because Alicia C is an amazing goddess and made a montage of me in a field, I felt like it could be a really creative new look for my blog this summer! It has the feel of an African plain, so I just went with it. Only one problem: it's missing some ferocious animals - but I'll work on it! What do you all think? Doesn't it kinda make you thirsty?! ha

Photoshoot with Alicia C.

This past week I finally had the opportunity to work with talented photographer Alicia Calton. The weather was an absolute dream. Mother Nature FINALLY smiled on me and gave me a sunny day in the 70's to shoot in!! I nearly froze to death in my past two outdoor shoots, and I was totally willing to do it again... but thank GOD I didn't have to!

Alicia's style of work has a very soft, sometimes magical feel to them. I wanted to play on that. I styled three complete looks, all of which we shot in. I knew I wanted lots of BIG, soft tumbling, curls. I have long hair and the length tends to pull the curl out - and I had to last running around outdoors all day - So before I went to bed the night prior I put pin curls all over my head and slept on the bobby pins. Ouch. But it works! The result was exactly what I wanted. Positively romantic.

I think I managed some of the craziest contorted poses I have ever come up with thus far in my career. I felt like wood nymph laying on the green moss covered rocks. I even climbed trees and jumped in mud - at least I told myself it was mud - and had the usual wardrobe malfunctions... but we finished the day in a field of golden grass. A perfect way to end a lovely day. More pictures to follow soon!
*Special thanks to Andrea Ahl for all her help and patience :)
